MARIA DIOGO
1997, Massarelos, Porto, PORTUGAL
Currently lives and works in Barcelona with her estudio focus on this new brand. The point of this new project is to explore the first gender touch that we receive as a child's in society, CLOTHES!
She holds a degree and won the Acquisition Prize in Plastic Arts, 2021/22, in the field of Sculpture through the Faculty of Fine Arts, where she continues her studies in the Sculpture department.
Her secondary education took place at Soares dos Reis Secondary School, where she specialized in Ceramics in the Product Design course, receiving the Prize in the Leques Competition.
Recently, she has been exploring her skills through the Garment Modeling course at MODATEX in Porto, where she previously also conducted a small exploration of garment transformation.
Influenced by a childhood where gender issues did not make sense in a layer that also made sense, she embraces discomfort, just as on the other hand, "dream" is a fundamental point in her desire—something necessary and that attracts, but also repels.
This duality is always in contrast, a process of mutation/transformation where various questions arise, previously posed, and which ultimately end up being explored in her work.
A distortion between the real world and the fantasy that the real world itself provides.
"Gender is what you're really dressing, and today you can be one different everyday"
